Posting on Instagram can be a great way to market your brand, but you need to know the right sizes for posting to make sure your photos fit and look good!

Resolution for Instagram Post: 1080px by 1080px

  • You can upload a square photo size for Instagram at 1080px by 1080px.
  • If you're uploading a landscape photo for Instagram, the recommended resolution is 1080px by 566px.
  • For portrait photos on Instagram, the guideline is to use 1080px by 1350px.

Square Photo Size for Instagram: 1080px by 1080px

  • Square Photo Size for Instagram: 1080px by 1080px

Square photos are the most common Instagram photo size and are best for product photography, single-subject images, and vertical images. As a general rule of thumb, square photos tend to look best if the image is in landscape orientation (portrait images have more whitespace left and right than top and bottom).

Landscape Photo Size for Instagram: 1080px by 566px

You can upload your photos in three sizes. The first is a square shape, the second is landscape and the third is portrait. Both landscape and portrait images have their own resolutions, but the square image resolution is the same as those of its counterparts.

As we mentioned before, there's no limit to how large you can make an Instagram photo — but if you upload one that's too large it will be cropped down to fit within the app's dimensions (1080px by 1080px).

Portrait Photo Size for Instagram: 1080px by 1350px

Our main goal is to make sure that every photo you upload looks great. This means that the maximum width of your image should be 1080px, and the maximum height should be 1350px.

Instagram Stories Size : 1080px by 1920px (aspect ratio of 9:16)

Instagram prefers vertical images for your stories, and not only is the experience better for your customers it's also better for you, because you'll get more engagement and shares on your Instagram stories.

In order to use Instagram effectively in your marketing, you need to know the various sizes to optimize your posts.

1. Make sure your profile is set to public so that people can see what you post

2. Keep it short and sweet—we recommend keeping each story under 5 seconds long, but if it's longer than that, make sure it's worth watching

3. Make sure your picture is clear and easy to see at all times

Instagram is a great place to promote your brand, but it’s also one of the most competitive social platforms. If you want to stand out and make an impact, it helps to have a strategy in place for scaling up your efforts over time.
